About the Dutch Safety Board Working at

The Dutch Safety Board provides its employees a challenging, diverse and relevant work environment.

In spite of all our knowledge, technology and procedures, major accidents and even disasters do sometimes occur in the Netherlands. Sometimes it is a case of bad luck, sometimes there is more to it. Then it is important to find out exactly what has gone wrong. The investigations of the Dutch Safety Board contribute to a safer Netherlands. The Dutch Safety Board focuses primarily on cases where citizens depend on other parties to guarantee their safety, such as the government, businesses or institutions.

Small and professional

The Dutch Safety Board employs around 80 people under the direction of the Secretary Director.

Most of these staff are investigators. The Dutch Safety Board is a small, professional organisation that places high demands on the quality of its reports. Three core values are key to the Board’s work: independence, transparency and expertise. Our staff:

  • are good at cooperating
  • adopt a flexible attitude
  • like to engage in open and critical dialogue
  • can draw on in-depth knowledge
  • work actively to use and share this knowledge
  • work independently and with integrity.

The Dutch Safety as an employer

The Dutch Safety Board offers its staff varied and wide-ranging work. Every investigation is different and leads to new insights. Collaboration with Board members and relevant agencies such as inspectorates as well as sector organisations appeals to people who work diligently and critically throughout the investigation process.

The ‘CAO Rijk’ applies to all employees of the Dutch Safety Board.
