Industry is an important investigation area for the Dutch Safety Board.

The Dutch Safety Board

  • is required by law to investigate major accidents with hazardous substances at companies covered by the European Seveso Directive. These often are occurrences at companies in the chemical or petrochemical industry.
  • can investigate occurrences involving the transport of hazardous substances through pipelines. In the Netherlands, pipeline operators are required to report occurrences involving a pipeline.
  • investigates safety issues with networks for telephony, data traffic and electricity.
