Industry is an important investigation area for the Dutch Safety Board.
The Dutch Safety Board
- is required by law to investigate major accidents with hazardous substances at companies covered by the European Seveso Directive. These often are occurrences at companies in the chemical or petrochemical industry.
- can investigate occurrences involving the transport of hazardous substances through pipelines. In the Netherlands, pipeline operators are required to report occurrences involving a pipeline.
- investigates safety issues with networks for telephony, data traffic and electricity.
