Rejected takeoff, Boeing 777-222ER, Amsterdam Airport Schiphol

Status : Closed

The aircraft taxied out and lined up for takeoff. During the takeoff roll, the flight crew received a ‘Bleed Air Leak’ message on the Engine Indicating and Crew Alerting System (EICAS), followed by ‘Bleed Air Failure’ message, shortly after. At that moment, they also received a call through the intercom from one of the cabin crew members and were informed of the presence of dust and debris in the passenger cabin. The pilots decided to abort the takeoff.

The pneumatic duct,  located in the left sidewall near the aft cargo compartment, had ruptured. The rupture of the pneumatic line coming from the Auxiliary Power Unit caused the cabin pressure to rise and burst the left side wall in the rear baggage compartment. Due to this incident, one passenger required medical attention for breathing problems.
