Interim statement 'Crashed, Aerospool Dynamic WT9, Kornhorn'

This interim statement provides an update on the ongoing investigation by the Dutch Safety Board into an accident involving an Aerospool Dynamic WT9 near Kornhorn on 13 February 2021.
The aeroplane had departed from Drachten airfield for a local flight. During the flight, the aeroplane entered into a steep descent and crashed. The pilot was fatally injured and the aeroplane destroyed. Just before the accident took place, witnesses saw objects coming out of the cockpit.
The investigation is exploring the following aspects: reconstruction of the flight, the pilot’s actions, construction of the canopy and safety management of the flying club.
The process of collecting factual information has been completed and the gathered information is being analysed.
The final report of the investigation will be published in due course.
