  • Investigation into derailed train at Dalfsen

On 23 February 2016 the Dutch Safety Board launched an investigation into the derailment of a passenger train at Dalfsen. The investigators visited the scene of the derailment to gather the first information for the investigation, to speak to the parties involved and to secure material where necessary. The Board will determine the specific areas on which the ongoing investigation will focus based on the information collected.

The Dutch Safety Board conducts investigations into incidents aimed at preventing them from happening again in the future. By determining the cause and the underlying factors, the Board will be able to draw lessons and formulate recommendations. The Dutch Safety Board does not address issues of blame or liability.

During the ongoing investigation, the Dutch Safety Board will not provide any substantive information about the cause or the findings. The Board will present its findings upon the conclusion of the investigation in an investigation report.
