Interim statement ‘Runway excursion during take-off, Ameland Airport’
This interim statement provides an update by the Dutch Safety Board into an accident involving a Diamond DA 40. The event occurred at Ameland Airport (EHAL) on May 26th 2024.
During the take-off run from runway 08 the aircraft did not adequately accelerate and did not lift off. It passed the runway threshold, overshot the aerodrome fence and came to a stop in an area of dunes east of the field. The four occupants remained unharmed and the aircraft was heavily damaged.
The investigation has been finished. The final report is being finalized and will be published this summer.
