This is an interim statement on the investigation by the Dutch Safety Board into the accident involving a Cessna Citation 560XL at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol on 28 June 2024. For ongoing investigations, an annual progress update is provided.

The Cessna Citation departed from Oxford Airport in the United Kingdom for a ferry flight to Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. On board were two pilots and one flight attendant. During the landing roll, the left and right main landing gears as well as the nose landing gear retracted. There were no landing gear unsafe warnings prior to touchdown. The aircraft slid off the runway. After the aircraft came to a stop, the three crew members evacuated the aircraft. None of them sustained injuries. The aircraft was substantially damaged.

The investigation focusses on the following aspects:

  • analysis of the data from the Flight Data Recorder, the Cockpit Voice Recorder and the engine data collection units;
  • the aircraft’s electrical and hydraulic system, in particular in relation to landing gear operation;
  • flight operational aspects.

Functional testing of the landing gear operation was completed in December, 2024. The investigation team has started further testing of the electrical and hydraulic components at the facilities of the aircraft and component manufacturers. This testing will continue in the coming period.

The safety investigation authorities of the State of the Operator and State of Design and Manufacture of the aircraft and engine and their technical advisors (manufacturers, operator and oversight authorities) participate in the investigation.

The Board will publish the final report on the investigation page as soon as the investigation has been completed.
