This interim statement provides an update on the investigation by the Dutch Safety Board into an engine failure of a Boeing 747 cargo aeroplane, shortly after takeoff from Maastricht Aachen Airport on the 20th of February 2021.

After the engine had encountered a failure, the aeroplane lost some engine parts above the village of Meerssen. Two people suffered injuries and, among other things, some cars got damaged.

The parties involved have submitted their comments on the draft report to the Dutch Safety Board; this to verify the facts. The investigation is now at the stage of establishing the final report, which will be published shortly.
