After scheduled maintenance a pilot and an aircraft engineer performed a test flight. At an altitude of 800 feet a loud bang was heard, followed by a sudden loss of tail rotor control. The crew managed to make an autorotation landing without further damage. The tail rotor, together with itsgearbox had separated from the tail.
