The Dutch Safety Board launches an investigation into the collision between a seagoing container ship and an inland tanker on the Western Scheldt on May 30 2025. The seagoing vessel hit the aft end of the inland tanker. Two crew members of the inland tanker fell into the water. Other vessels close by provided aid and stabilizing the inland tanker. The crew members were transported to the hospital for a check-up and were later discharged.

With the investigation the Dutch Safety Board wants to draw lessons to contribute to safer shipping. The investigation explicitly does not focus on who is to blame or liable.
