Methods Collecting information
Investigators of the Dutch Safety Board collect all relevant information before conducting an investigation. They do this, for example, with the following actions:
- interview parties involved
- request data files and documentation
- research accounts, logs and recorders for relevant data
- determine which parties are directly involved and what parties play a role in the background
Investigators of the Dutch Safety Board often start their investigation into an incident with a visit to the site of the incident. Depending on the situation, they can, for example, immediately begin with a technical investigation of installations and constructions, take photos or speak to those involved.
Based on the information collected the investigators establish an account of facts. This will have a place in the eventual investigation report.
