Methods Call-out

A train collision, the collapse of a building or a plane crash: these are all incidents the Dutch Safety Board can investigate for learning lessons. This is how we contribute to a safer Netherlands. Investigators of the Dutch Safety Board can travel to the site immediately for an exploratory investigation. They will examine the scene, collect information, talk to those involved and to witnesses, and start a preliminary technical investigation. Of course, only if it can be done safely.

The investigators determine what to do and coordinate their activities with the other parties involved at the site of the incident. If emergency assistance is still being provided, this process naturally takes precedence.

Based on the initial findings, the Dutch Safety Board decides whether to open a full investigation.
