Accident on Cruise Ship near the Bahamas

Two investigators from the Dutch Safety Board have travelled to the Caribbean to investigate an incident on a cruise ship sailing under the Dutch flag. On Friday, March 22, 2024, a very serious accident occurred in the engine room of the cruise ship Nieuw Amsterdam owned by Holland America Line. The Safety Board is required to investigate this accident based on international laws and regulations.

Two crew members lost their lives in the accident. Through its investigation, the Safety Board aims to determine exactly what happened and identify lessons that can be learned from the incident.
